What noise cancelling actually does

Active noise cancelling works by generating a signal that opposes incoming sound, and it is very good at constant low-frequency noise: aircraft cabins, train rumble, road noise, air conditioning. It is much less effective on speech, keyboards and sudden sounds, because those are irregular and higher in frequency.

That matters because it changes which problem you are solving. If your noise is a commute, cancelling is exactly the right tool. If it is an open-plan office full of conversation, the physical seal of the earcup does more work than the electronics, and no pair on this page will make colleagues disappear.

Does the flagship price earn itself?

Check they still work when the battery dies
